The First Session of the “Xinglin Chunuan” Workshop, Organized by ITMCTR and CCEBTCM, was successfully held

On the afternoon of August 28, 2024, the first session of the “Xinglin Chunuan” Workshop was held at the China Center for Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCEBTCM). The event invited master’s and doctoral students from the 2022 cohort to share academic insights on clinical research practices in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Over 20 students and faculty members from the fields of TCM standards and evidence-based medicine attended the event. Special guest Researcher Gao Lianli from the Graduate School of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences also participated in the English and academic exchange discussions.
At the beginning of the event, the host introduced the theme of this session of the Workshop and the special guests. On behalf of the organizing team, the host extended a warm welcome to all attending students and faculty. The host expressed the hope that through the Workshop, and with the support of the ITMCTR of the CCEBTCM, a mentor group would be established by collaborating with leading experts in the field. This would provide multi-dimensional and comprehensive guidance for graduate students and young scholars to support their academic development and exchange.

Doctoral student Song Tian from the 2022 cohort gave a presentation in English titled “The Study of ‘Symptom-Syndrome’ Spatiotemporal Patterns of COVID-19 in China Based on Multidimensional Data and Advanced Statistical Methods”. He detailed how to comprehensively use multidimensional data such as case reports, epidemiological data, and medical records, combined with advanced statistical methods like spatial analysis and time series analysis, to explore the spatiotemporal variations of “symptoms-syndrome” in the process of COVID-19 transmission. His findings provided important data support for optimizing public health strategies and response plans. After the presentation, the mentor group provided feedback and suggestions on aspects such as classification standards, research methods, study design, and the establishment and sourcing of databases.

Master’s student Zhang Yujing from the 2022 cohort presented in English on the topic “Survey on the Knowledge, Beliefs, and Practices of Clinical Doctors Regarding Clinical Trial Registration and Analysis of Influencing Factors”. She detailed the research approach for the “Survey on Knowledge, Beliefs, and Practices of Clinical Trial Registration,” including the design of the questionnaire and interview outline. The study aimed to comprehensively understand the current status of clinical doctors' knowledge, beliefs, and practices regarding clinical trial registration and to analyze the influencing factors in depth, with the goal of proposing targeted measures for improvement. After the presentation, the mentor group provided feedback and suggestions on aspects such as the significance of the research, conceptual clarity, study subjects, and questionnaire design.
After the presentation and discussion session, Researcher Gao Lianli and the mentors praised the excellent performance of the two graduate students and awarded them honorary certificates. The two students also expressed that participating in this session of the Workshop was extremely beneficial. They gained valuable advice through intellectual discussions and brainstorming, which will help in conducting deeper research in the future. At the end of the meeting, all participants took a group photo to commemorate the event. The first session of the Workshop was successfully completed, and there is anticipation for more graduate students and young scholars to join, as everyone sets sail together!
